Prima, our translator arranged bikes from some friends which we could borrow for a day. Because the temperatures rise quickly and we want to see much we left early: 07.00 AM.
You would expect a quiet city at that time at a Sunday morning. Not in Bandung!
Jl. Dago is lively, many, many people on the street. Each Sunday between 06.00 - 10.00AM the close the road: it is car free morning!
People strolling around and enjoy. A lot of people sell food, toys or other things. It looks like the "free market" on Queensday!
The Kaki Lima's
The Egg seller & the balloon seller, and much, much more!
DISKOMINFO was there as well, with their Mobile Community Access Point.
On weekdays they go to festivals and schools so that more and more people get access. The kids like it very much as they can play games!
Ibu Hermin and Pak Purnomo brought their daughters.
They were happily surprised to see us!
And we liked it too!
Even the youngest like to come to the Mobile Access car.
Maej played with the bubbles, huges ones. She is not the only one who likes them!
We also met a famous volunteer of Bandung: the street cleaner Pak Iban, an 80 year old man who started his own journey to make Bandung clear. He rides a Dutch bicycle1
At the end of the street we also met a mother and daughter with two cute little dogs.
As dad is Dutch, Mom could speak a few words Dutch!
We enjoyed Jl. Dago on Sunday morning! At exactly 10 o'clock the cars came through the street again....
End of Car Free Sunday!
